Privileged.

I sort of agree with the comments made by Gordy and Junior but it sort of seems like they're being racist, but it's somewhat understandable. 'Well, this article said that over two hundred Mexican girls have disappeared in the last three years in that same part of the country. And nobody says much about that. And that's racist. the guy who wrote the article says people care more about beautiful white girls than they do about everybody else on the planet. White girls are privileged. They're damsels in distress.' that's what Gordy said in the book. But if you think about it, why would we here in America hear about a missing person in Mexico? White parents may have more money then other parents so they're able to get the publicity and able to give out a reward to whoever finds their child whereas a parent in Mexico or someone of another race that may not have quite as much money wouldn't be able to provide a reward, but not all white parents would be able to either.

  1. If we start saying that we shouldn't care about or that we don't hear about missing Mexican girls because the media doesn't care, it seems like that's just a rationalization for something we all know is wrong. We shouldn't be giving excuses as to why that is, even if they are true. The fact is that the United States is predominately white Anglo-Saxon, and people only care about themselves. It's the mindset that most people have, as sad as it may be. It really is too bad that people aren't willing to see past that.
